GRANITE COUNTY - The body of a rafter who went into the Rock Creek river this afternoon has been recovered.
A report came into dispatch at 4:37 p.m. that a raft was found capsized and on a log jam near Harry's Flat along the lower Rock Creek. One of the men was found alive, but a second did not surface after the accident.
The name of the victim, a Montana resident, is being withheld pending notification of family members.
Granite County Deputies, Search and Rescue crews along with the aid of Life Flight Network and the Missoula County Swift water rescue searched of the area until they eventually found the body.
In an email statement earlier this afternoon, Granite County Sheriff Scott Dunkerson stated, "Waters in Western Montana continue to be very high, swift and cold and we would like to send a reminder to all rafters using rivers and streams to use extreme caution."
